R.I.P. SOUNDWAVES After over two years as an oasis of underage recreation, the Soundwaves/Wooden Waves ALL AGES concert hall/venue in Reading, PA is closing its doors due to devastating losses incurred from not one but TWO flooding incidents during the torrential rains that soaked the East Coast last year.
Anyone who's followed the career of Frank Phobia - producer, musician, indie label president, skateboarding instructor and patron saint of under-21 rockers - knows the unparalleled commitment he's shown to fostering and nuturing self-expression in the youth of his community through Rock 'N' Roll and surfing the wooden wave.
He built a community of young people united in their love of music and gave them a safe haven for their creativity, investing his time, resources and life savings in the process.
Frank is a shining example of a punk who walks his talk. To catch a glimpse of the utopia he built before it shutters for good, and learn more about the Grand Finale Last Show Ever on June 19th surf on over to www.woodenwaves.net. You may want to drop him an "atta boy" e-mail while you're at it.
